Senior and Titan Events
October (ongoing): The 2027-2028 FAFSA is open October 1.
SENIORS, CURRENT COLLEGE STUDENTS, OR FORMER STUDENTS seeking to enroll in college are eligible to complete the FAFSA. Note that the FAFSA and Pell have both undergone significant changes this year! Completing the FAFSA can potentially qualify students for up to $7,395 via the Pell Grant (as of 2025-2026), as well as additional funding in state or institutional aid. Even if the student is not eligible for the Pell Grant, he or she may STILL be eligible to receive thousands in state or institutional aid. Every family should complete the FAFSA to see what they might qualify for! If you have any questions, contact the SFA office for further information or register for one of the Fall Financial Aid workshops listed.
The FAFSA is an application that students have to renew every year that they are enrolled in college.
Completing the FAFSA can qualify students for grants, scholarships, and loans. Contact an SFA adviser for one-on-one assistance!
October (ongoing): The 2027-2028 CSS Profile is open.
SENIORS, the CSS Profile is an additional financial application required by certain colleges and universities for consideration for financial aid.

Please note that the CSS Profile is now free for families making up to $100,000 a year. Otherwise, the initial application to complete the application is $25. This covers the cost of the application itself and the cost of sending the results to one college. For every additional college that is added, the additional expense is $16 per college.

October 19-30, 2026: Virginia College Application Week
SENIORS, READ AND SAVE MONEY APPLYING TO COLLEGE: Take advantage of VCAW (Virginia College Application Week) and submit your finished VA (and even some out of state!) applications for FREE. NO FEE. We can help you take that final step and be done with it! We helped 115 ACHS seniors submit multiple applications in 2025! Think of the money you and your family will save! Thursdays from November to January: Appy Hours
TITANS, every Thursday, The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria is available from 3:30-4:30 PM in the King Street Rotunda, or virtually to support students with ANY applications! Advisers will help students and families with college and financial aid applications, including the CSS Profile (required for students applying to UVA, William & Mary, University of Richmond, George Washington University, and Washington and Lee). We are also able to provide support when the SFA Scholarship Application opens. ACHS alums are welcome for support with financial aid/scholarship applications. No appointment necessary! Early December to January 2027: Scholarship Fund of Alexandria Application
SENIORS, the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria provides scholarships exclusively to seniors at Alexandria City High School with a minimum GPA of 2.0 by the end of their junior year. Through one single Application, each ACHS student can be eligible for over a hundred local scholarships. Terrific odds—over 50% of our applicants are award recipients.

May 2027: National Decision Day!
SENIORS, The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria in collaboration with AdviseVA and ACHS spends some celebratory time with seniors in May on both campuses at Alexandria City High School as seniors commemorate their college and postsecondary decisions. Seniors gather together at ACHS in the KS Rotunda and MH Forum to decorate and sign Decision Day t-shirts and take photos at the photo booths. More details to come so stay tuned. May 2027: Annual SFA Awards Ceremony
SENIORS, FAMILIES, FRIENDS and SUPPORTERS, The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria presents a celebratory evening in May from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm at Alexandria City High School. Student award winners, their families and friends, scholarship donors as well as Alexandria community members gather together at ACHS to watch the presentation of the SFA scholarships to the ACHS Class of 2027 senior recipients. Formal Recipient/Donor portraits are taken this evening. Please dress neatly. A conversational exchange between students and donors prior, reception with refreshments after. June to August 2026: The SFA Award Renewal Application
UPPERCLASSMEN SFA RECIPIENTS, The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria asks SFA Award Recipients from the Classes of 2023 to 2025 to renew their SFA applications via the portal during June to August. Even recipients from classes of 2021 and 2022 may STILL be eligible if they have not used all four years of scholarship funding (contact office for further information)! All needs-based scholarships are renewable for 4 years of funding as long as recipient eligibility is maintained, even with a deferral—which also MUST be declared through the portal. The portal is accessible for filling out renewals beginning in June and ending in August! Review your personal email inboxes regularly for details… Contact Ms. Samuel with questions.
Wednesday October 14 2026: The Alumni Happy Hour
TITANS & TITAN ADJACENT FRIENDS! The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria invites all Titans & Friends to the annual SFA Alumni Happy Hour, hosted by local Titan business owner and SFA Champion Trae Lamond at Chadwicks of Old Town. More details forthcoming so stay tuned. This is the moment to reunite with friends across multiple classes, raise a glass, win a raffle item and enjoy good food. January 2027: The SFA Award Recipient Alumni Luncheon
SFA RECIPIENT FRESHMEN and SOPHOMORES, The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria invites the SFA Award Recipients from the Classes of 2025 and 2026 to the annual reunion lunch.
